The Top 5 Amenities You Need At Your New Apartment

There are many factors that come into play when you decide to move to a new apartment. Probably the most important thing that is not part of the community features would be the location. You want to make sure you have easy access to where you work as well as where you like to hang out when you are not working. Once you make this decision, then you can begin to narrow down the properties in that area by the types of amenities they offer. Some people who have never lived in an apartment don’t even realize what types of things they should look for when they get ready to move. These are the top 5 amenities you NEED at your new apartment.

Fitness Center

A fitness center has become a pretty standard feature in most new apartments, however some are better than others. Some include things like a separate yoga room or a spin bike room, while others offer resident group exercise classes or personal training sessions. Most gyms have weight training equipment and cardio machines as well. This can be a huge savings to you if you have a gym membership somewhere as they typically run $50 to $100 per month.

Pet Services

Since most people have a pet or two, and most of the apartments are pet-friendly now, a property with some special features for your pet is important. There are some communities that have on-site dog parks or dog runs, and some even have a pet washing station so you don’t have to make a mess in your new place wrestling with your pet at bath time! There are even properties that have roof top “puppy pads” in case you don’t feel like taking your dog for a walk outside the building.

On-site Storage

If you move from a house to an apartment, you are probably going to be down-sizing and may need some extra storage for things like Christmas decorations or a bicycle. Or maybe you just don’t like clutter, but have things that you don’t need very often, but are not quite ready to get rid of. Having on-site storage is convenient, and will save you money over putting things in storage somewhere else. Typically, these spaces are an extra $20 to $30 per month.

Resident Lounge

A great resident lounge can accomplish many things. First of all, it’s a great way to meet your neighbors. Typically, there are T. V.’s to watch the big game, pool tables, gaming stations, and comfortable couches and chairs to relax in. Many times there is a business center with computers and printers for you to use as well. There is usually a kitchen or a coffee bar in these areas as well, and you can reserve these spaces for private parties, in case you need more room than what you have in your apartment.

Resort-style Pool

Nothing beats a great pool when you live in Texas. Most communities have a pool these days, but some are definitely better than others. Usually they are surrounded by outdoor grilling stations or kitchens so they are great for entertaining your friends or meeting new ones. There are usually cabanas or lounging areas around the pool, and some pools even have built-in tanning ledges. The community typically has a couple pool parties each year for the residents too.
